TIBURON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE’S WORKFORCE HOUSING COMMITTEE INVITES LETTERS OF INTERESTS

TIBURON, CA – The Tiburon Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee voted on November 20, 2006 to form a Workforce Housing Committee and is inviting for community members who wish to participate to send in letters of interest. The Committee will focus on the needs for workforce housing in our community and facilitate efforts to assure that those who work in the town can live within the community.  The Committee will also address the economic benefits of workforce housing and ways in which potential impacts can be addressed or mitigated. The workforce housing will be consistent with the economic viability and quality of life expectations of the community.
In an effort to reflect the community’s general demographic and business profile, the Chamber is seeking diverse group of applicants with problem-solving skills who are committed to the economic development of the Peninsula.  The committee will seek collaborations with other community-based organizations such as the Tiburon /Belvedere Rotary, which has formed a similar group.
The Committee is a volunteer-based entity and is at the sole discretion of concerned citizens and interested developers.  It is not affiliated with the Town of Tiburon.  The Committee will initially meet quarterly and will be open to presentations by housing experts, officials and developers for evaluation and advice from concerned citizens.  The Chamber is asking for letters of interest from the Tiburon/Belvedere Peninsula to service on the new Committee for a period of one year starting in 2007.
Kam Shadan, a 30-year member of the Tiburon community and a transportation and housing development expert, will lead the committee.  He is currently the President of Gannett Fleming Development Corporation, Real Estate Division and serves on the finance committee of the county-wide Work Force Housing Trust.

Send letters of interest and a brief resume by January 15th, 2007 to:
