About Us

Cathleen Gouveia is the Design Principal of Cathleen Gouveia Design, an award-winning full-service residential interior design firm in San Francisco serving the Bay Area, Wine Country, Lake Tahoe, and beyond. Her work has been featured on Home and Garden Television (HGTV), “California Home and Living Television”, The San Francisco Chronicle, and many National and Local Interior Design Publications. Cathleen was the President of ASID California North (2016/17), is an Allied Member of the ASID and IIDA; and is also an IAD Adjunct Professor for the Academy of Art in San Francisco.

Cathleen Gouveia Design was founded in Sausalito in 2004. Her work was selected for The 2012 Inaugural Traditional Home Napa Showhouse; The 2014 Traditional Home Napa Showhouse; The 2011 San Francisco Decorator Showcase Penthouse Bedroom, The 2011 Elle Décor Home Tour and the Marin Designers Showcase Houses (2004, 2005, 2007, 2010).

Ms. Gouveia was named a, “San Francisco Style-maker” by The San Francisco Chronicle. She was the recipient of several ASID Design Excellence Awards including: "Best Sustainable Residential Interior Design Project" (2011); "Best Showhouse Design First Place" (2015); "Best Residential Project Under 3,000SF" (2nd Place) (2015); and most recently, "Best Design in the Public Domain" (Living Rooms/Dining Rooms) (2017). Cathleen graduated with Honors from The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where she received an MFA Degree in Interior Architecture and Design, and an Award for Design Excellence. She studied European Architecture, Art and Design in London, Paris, and Rome.
